Get permission to use our music online
Want to use songs from the Studio Countdown Music catalog in your own online content (like in a YouTube video)? Depending on what you’re making, there are different ways to get permission to use our music.
Please note that these rules do not apply to music we license but do not own. Most of the songs we own have either our logo or one of our projects’ logos on the official album/release art. If you’re unsure of who a song belongs to or want us to forward your inquiry to a song owner, feel free to write an email to contact@studiocountdown.com and we’ll try to find more info for you.

If you post a video containing a song from the catalog of songs we own, you might receive a copyright claim from “Studio Countdown Music” or “Too Lost Records on behalf of Studio Countdown”. This isn’t a copyright strike and won’t affect your YouTube channel, but you won’t be able to monetize the video.
If you’re an independent creator (not a brand or advertiser) and your video is an original animatic, AMV, or other moving fanart piece featuring our music, upload your video as an “Unlisted” video and send the link to contact+ugclicensing@studiocountdown.com. Once we’ve determined your video is eligible, we’ll reply with a unique link for you to copy and paste into your video description. After this link is added, we’ll manually remove the copyright claim from your video and you can set it to “Public”.
If you’re an independent creator and your video is a YouTube Shorts post (vertical short-form video), there’s no need to contact us for permission or buy a license. YouTube pays for licenses on your behalf.
If you’re an independent creator but your video doesn’t fall into any of the categories mentioned above, you can buy a license from Lickd to monetize your video or contact us at contact+ugclicensing@studiocountdown.com to buy a license directly.
If you’d like to clear up any concerns about copyright claims and/or video monetization before posting your video, contact us directly at contact@studiocountdown.com. If you’re a brand or advertiser, you need a commercial license - email us at sales@studiocountdown.com for more info.
Our music is already licensed for use on TikTok and Instagram. As long as you’re not a brand or advertiser, you can use the music we own on these platforms without worrying about your post being muted or taken down. If you’re a brand or advertiser, you need a commercial license - email us at sales@studiocountdown.com for more info.
Please email us at contact@studiocountdown.com to discuss licensing.
Making a cover of one of our songs? We’re honored! You can post your cover on YouTube or SoundCloud without worrying about copyright restrictions. If you’d like to release your cover via Spotify or other commercial music services, you’ll need to acquire mechanical licenses. Many music distributors will handle this for you in return for a small fee (sometimes free!), so we recommend checking with yours. If you don’t have a music distributor but want to release a cover of one of our songs, feel free to reach out to contact@studiocountdown.com - and we’ll see if we can help get your music out there!
You can post remixes to YouTube without asking us for permission first - but you might receive a copyright claim. If you’d like to monetize your remix on YouTube or release your remix on other platforms, contact us at contact@studiocountdown.com.
We’re sorry, but we don’t allow our music to be posted in a video without any video content to go along with it. The only exception to this rule is if we or one of our artists specifically requests for you to promote music from our catalog.
If you attempt to bypass a copyright claim without a license or post an unauthorized track art/promotion/lyric video, Studio Countdown has the right to request a takedown of your content (unless it falls under fair/editorial use). We really don’t like doing that, so please feel free to ask us any questions at contact@studiocountdown.com if you’re unsure about what you can and cannot do with our music.
